What We’ve Learned From Writing 500 Blogs

This blog marks the 500th article published on the Full Scope Creative website. Along the way, blogging has helped us sharpen our skills in web design, SEO, branding, and hosting while also helping us become better writers and problem solvers. Here are a few of the biggest lessons we’ve learned from writing 500 blog articles over the years.

Why Consistent Blogging Still Matters

This very blog article, marks the 500th blog for Full Scope Creative.

Not only is this 500 times we’ve shared our knowledge on web design, branding, SEO, website hosting, and more, but 500 times we’ve gotten to learn more.

500 times that we’ve honed our skills as designers, programmers, marketers, and writers.

Aside from 500 blog articles on our site, what all did we gain from writing 500 blog articles?

What 500 Blog Articles Taught Us About Our Profession

Our industry of website design, SEO, branding, and website hosting is constantly evolving. Writing all the blogs we do is one of the ways we keep current and on top of our industry changes.

When we can take these blog topics, and write them to explain the topic to our client, that makes our knowledge of it even deeper. It’s almost as much for us as it is for our clients.

So many of our blogs start out as a question that one of our clients asks us. Our thought has always been, if one client asks it, more are probably wondering it too. Taking those questions have led us down a path of research and discovery.

So much of what we know about Search Engine Optimization came from writing those blog articles. We’re able to offer the advanced and secure website hosting with peak performance that we do because of how much we’ve written about it. Our blog helped get us engaged in those topics and it continues to keep us engaged in them.

These 500 blog articles have made us better web designers, marketers, and problem solvers for our clients and community.

What 500 Blog Articles Taught Us About Dedication

Writing 500 blog articles doesn’t happen magically or accidentally. Even writing one blog article isn’t a chance happening. It takes time to write a good article. Writing 500 requires consistency and commitment.

These blogs were written between early mornings at coffee shops, late nights fueled by Zevia, or squeezed into a crammed workday. But publishing regularly got us into a routine around writing. More importantly, a routine around sharing knowledge and helping others.

It also requires prior planning. Some blogs came easily. Some required a lot of research. Some required time to be specifically carved into the day. Over time, we have built systems for generating ideas, organizing outlines, and finding the time to write.

This discipline carries over into all the rest of our work as well.

What 500 Blog Articles Taught Me About Writing

Writing wasn’t my strongest skill. Language Arts classes were not my best in school. I actually failed quite a few of them. But all this blogging has helped me develop those skills. More importantly, it has helped me develop my voice.

I’ve learned how to write in a style that allows me to explain complex and technical topics easily and simply. I’ve learned how to write for other people – our clients, our prospective clients. Our blogs are all tailored for readers who don’t have the detailed or in depth knowledge of the industry like we do. Writing for that is a much different writing style than I’ve ever used before.

Like any activity, the more you do it, the more comfortable with it you become. After writing 500 blog articles, writing has become a skill we can use every day.

What 500 Blog Articles Taught Us About Using New Tools

Everytime we turn around, there is a new tool for our industry. With all the AI platforms and tools available this is happening at speeds even faster than before. With our blog and the articles we write, we’ve been able to explore so many of them and get familiar with them.

We use tools like ChatGPT on so many of our blogs. We’ve used these tools to create these blogs. Sure, sometimes they write them fully, but many all still require our real-world knowledge and experiences. But learning these tools keeps us modern and relevant. We can also share this knowledge with our clients and help them write 500 blog articles.

These AI tools allow us to take what we’ve learned from building websites, managing hosting accounts, and working with clients, and turn that into great blog articles. But it all stems from our experiences. Writing these 500 blog shas helped us learn how to combine and use these new tools.

Our goal has never been and will never be to fully automate our blog. We are always looking for new tools to make it so we can keep writing more blogs, better blogs. The goal is to use the tools to share as much information as we can.

What 500 Blog Articles Taught Us About Helping Clients

One of the things with our blog that we’re so proud of is how we’ve been able to help our clients with it. When clients email and ask questions, those often become future blog articles. Once we have that blog written, we can share even more information with our clients and help them further. As the business is helped, that means our communities are helped more, and that is the top goal at Full Scope Creative.

When clients have questions about coming up with blog topics, we can email them the blogs where we’ve covered that. Got questions about if your logo is a bit dated? Yup, we got blogs for that too.

Our blog is almost a library of answers to questions that many of our clients and other small business owners are asking on a regular basis. Our blog is just one of the ways we can support those business owners.

As we write those blogs about helping our clients, it has many times shown us even more ways to help them more. With each blog, we’ve learned more. As we learn more, we can help more.

What 500 Blog Articles Means for the Future

Writing 500 blog articles is something we’re proud of. It is also a reminder that there is always more to learn, more to share. Web design, SEO, branding, and hosting are always changing. Staying current and on top of those changes is part of this job.

This blog will continue to be an avenue for us to share what we have learned along the way. An avenue for sharing our knowledge. An avenue to keep striving to make our communities better.

It will also always be a collection of information to help small business owners find practical advice and ideas for their business.

Our future blogs will continue to come from the same places: questions from our clients, changes in our industry, what we’re learning, new technologies, our desire to help small businesses, and our passion for helping communities.

The first 500 blog articles taught us that there is always another less around the bend. There is always another idea worth sharing.

What will the next 500 teach us? Only time will tell.
