Why WordPress is our CMS of Choice

We are big fans of WordPress

If you’ve talked to me or followed Full Scope Creative for any length of time, you’ve likely figured out that we are big fans of WordPress. There are a number of reasons why WordPress is our Content Management System (CMS) of choice here at Full Scope Creative. We have looked at and worked with other CMS options (SquareSpace, Drupal, heck, we even built one years ago), and they all fall short of what WordPress can offer.

WordPress offers numerous benefits that make it our choice for creating and managing websites. From its flexibility to its ease of use, there are plenty of reasons why WordPress stands out from other CMS options available in the market today. Whether you are just starting out or looking to switch your current website to a new CMS, here are a few of the reasons why WordPress is the best choice.

User-friendly interface

When it comes to choosing a content management system (CMS), having a user-friendly interface that allows for easy customization is essential. That is one of the reasons we have chosen WordPress as our CMS of choice. With its intuitive dashboard and drag-and-drop functionality, even users without coding experience can create and maintain a website that meets their unique needs.

Often when we meet with clients, they have concerns about updating or maintaining their own websites. Rarely do we work with clients who are experienced website developers and programmers. With the easy to follow interface that WordPress provides, it is a simple and straightforward process for clients to maintain their websites. I have heard clients mention they’re afraid of hitting a “self-destruct button” on their website – a button I assure you does not exist. Sure, there are some sections of the WordPress admin section that are best left alone, but anytime a user goes to those sections they are very clearly warned.

In my experience using other CMS such as Drupal, making those updates are not always as straightforward as clients would like. Even for me, an experienced programmer, navigating through Drupal can be an overwhelming experience at times. On the contrary, WordPress has a simple left side navigation, clearly linking to where to add pages, posts, media, users, and more. Once logged in to the admin section, there is a navigational bar along the top to provide quick links to add new content as well.

Versatile design options

Another of the key reasons why WordPress is our CMS of choice is its versatile design options, which are made possible through themes and plugins. With thousands of themes to choose from, businesses can easily find a design that fits their branding and website goals.

Themes not only offer a variety of customizable designs but also provide pre-built functionality for websites. This means that if a business wants to create an e-commerce website, there are themes available with pre-built shopping cart systems. Similarly, if a business wants to showcase its portfolio or services in an attractive manner, there are themes designed specifically for this purpose. Overall, WordPress’s theme library allows businesses to quickly build professional-looking websites without needing advanced coding skills.

While the theme of a website controls much of the look and aesthetics of a website, the plugins can add many more features and functionality to what a site can do. With the wide array of plugins available in WordPress, we can easily add features to a site such as a shopping cart, contact form, membership areas, SEO enhancements, and so many more.

When adding new themes and plugins, it’s important to select ones from trusted providers that have been updated recently and regularly. If a theme or plugin hasn’t been updated in years, the odds are pretty good that there is a security risk in it. A higher rating can also give evidence as to whether the plugin or theme is trust worthy.

As more and more plugins are added to a WordPress website, there can be additional risks with conflicting code and coding libraries used. At Full Scope Creative, we will not add a plugin into a site unless it is well vetted and is absolutely required for the site. If there are too many plugins added to a site, it can lead to the site running slower and being unstable. If the plugins are well respected, from reputable programmers, and are updated regularly, this is rarely a problem.

SEO optimization: Built-in features

SEO optimization is one of the most crucial aspects of digital marketing. Companies strive to optimize their websites in a way that makes them easily discoverable by search engines. WordPress, as a CMS, has been gaining popularity among businesses because it comes with built-in features that make SEO optimization an easy task.

One of the reasons why WordPress is our CMS of choice is because it allows us to optimize our clients’ websites for search engines without much hassle. With plugins like Yoast SEO, we can easily add metadata and other important information needed by search engine crawlers. Furthermore, WordPress themes are designed to be mobile-friendly and optimized for speed, two factors that Google takes into account when ranking websites.

Security and maintenance: Easy to update

When it comes to website development, security and maintenance should always be a top priority. As technology evolves, so do the threats we face online. That’s why we believe that choosing a content management system (CMS) that prioritizes security and easy updates is essential. That’s exactly why WordPress is our CMS of choice.

WordPress provides regular updates to improve its core functionality, fix bugs and address any potential security vulnerabilities quickly. These updates are quick and easy to install, ensuring your website remains protected from the latest threats. Additionally, WordPress has an active community of developers who continually create new plugins and themes designed to enhance your website’s performance while maintaining secure coding practices.

Furthermore, with WordPress taking care of most of the technical aspects of your website maintenance in the background, you can focus on creating high-quality content for your audience without worrying about site performance or downtime due to outdated software versions.

WordPress empowers business owners

WordPress has proven to be a powerful tool for business owners looking to establish their online presence. With its user-friendly interface and vast array of features, it offers businesses the ability to create a professional website without having to rely on expensive developers or designers. From e-commerce sites to personal blogs, WordPress is the ideal platform for those seeking a flexible and customizable option. By utilizing its various plugins and themes, businesses can tailor their website to fit their unique brand and vision. Whether you’re an established corporation or a small start-up company, WordPress empowers you with the tools needed to succeed in today’s digital marketplace. So why wait? Start building your dream website today!

Blog Comments

Blog comments sound great in theory, but in reality they create more risk than reward. On most WordPress sites, open comments invite spam, add security concerns, and require ongoing moderation.
