Looking for small business web design services from a team that can explain things clearly? Full Scope Creative builds websites for small businesses and nonprofits that want a site that looks good, works well, and is easy to update.
We can help with the design, content, WordPress setup, SEO basics, hosting, and support after launch. You do not need to know all the tech terms before you call us. That is part of what we help with.
A good small business website should do more than sit there and look nice. It should help people understand who you are, what you do, and why they should contact you.
That means the site needs a clear layout, helpful content, strong calls to action, and pages that work well on phones. It also needs to be easy for you to update after it launches.
At Full Scope Creative, our small business web design services start with learning about your business. We ask questions about your services, your customers, your goals, and what is not working with your current site. From there, we can plan a website that makes sense for you and for the people you want to reach.
As we often say, if you can use Microsoft Word and order a pizza online, you have the skills needed to update your site.
A portfolio should show more than nice-looking websites. It should show real work for real businesses.
Take a look at a few websites we have built for small businesses, nonprofits, and organizations. Each project had its own goals, its own style, and its own needs. Some needed a better mobile layout. Some needed easier updates. Some needed better content, stronger calls to action, or a cleaner way to show services.
Since 2010, we have worked with many types of small businesses and nonprofits. That matters because a dentist website, restaurant website, contractor website, and nonprofit website should not all feel the same.
Each business has different customers and different goals. We take time to learn what the site needs to do before we start building it.
Some websites are fun to build. Some are special because of the people behind them. This one is both.
PrePlayed was our very first client when Full Scope Creative started in 2010. Paul trusted us in the early days. We have worked together ever since. That means a lot to us.
When it was time to refresh preplayedgb.com for 2026, we were excited to get started.
The goal was simple. Make the site look better. Make it easier to use. Make it easier to update.
Paul had a few clear goals.
He wanted the site to look better on phones and tablets. He wanted a smoother user experience. He also wanted to update the top banner more easily when he had store announcements.
PrePlayed has grown over the years. They now sell vinyl records and cassette tapes. They carry games for all major systems. The website needed to show all of that clearly.
We rebuilt the site using the newest version of Elementor. We used flex containers and a cleaner layout system. This let us remove old tables and dated design pieces.
The new layout feels open and organized. It works well on every screen size. It is also much easier for Paul to manage.
This project was not just about looks.
We cleaned up the backend of the site. We removed plugins that were no longer needed. Fewer plugins help a site run faster and stay more secure.
We updated the site structure using newer tools inside Elementor. This improved how pages load and how they adjust on mobile devices.
We also added extra security features to protect the site.
The result is a faster, cleaner, and more stable website.
The PrePlayed website supports real store activity.
We built custom forms so customers can request items to be added to a reserve list. When items come in, the store can contact them. This connects the website directly to the in-store experience.
We also added an employment form to make hiring easier.
The updated content clearly explains what PrePlayed buys and sells, including:
The site keeps the fun feel customers expect while staying clean and easy to use.
This project means more than just a redesign.
PrePlayed has been with us since day one. From our first website together in 2010 to this new build for 2026, we have grown side by side.
We believe in long-term partnerships. We do not disappear after launch. We continue to support, improve, and protect the websites we build.
The new preplayedgb.com is ready for the future. And we are proud to still be part of their story.
A website is often the center of your marketing, but it is not the only part. We can also help with the services that support your site before and after launch.
Working with a web designer should not feel confusing. You should know who you are talking to, what is being done, and why it matters.
Full Scope Creative small business web design services that keeps the process clear. We explain things in plain English. We answer questions. We do not expect you to know every website term before the project starts.
Since 2010, we have helped small businesses and nonprofits with website design, WordPress, hosting, SEO, graphic design, and long-term support.
Full Scope Creative (specifically working with Chris Robinson) has been super responsive to our needs within Intentional Mentoring. Chris helped get us situated on a website that fit our budget and our experience in managing a website. When we were looking to redesign the website, he worked with us to make sure it fit the vibe we wanted for our organization, held the terminology and access points we were looking for, and allowed us to speak with him frequently about suggestions and updates. Whenever we had new people join us that needed to learn the website, Chris was able to work with them virtually to learn and understand the process of managing our side. Throughout our time working with Full Scope Creative, we have appreciated the consistency, timeliness, and product we have been given. Additionally, we appreciate the direct connection we get in response to questions and concerns.

A good website has a lot of parts. It needs to look good, load well, work on phones, have helpful content, and give people a clear way to contact you.
It also needs the right support after launch. That can include hosting, updates, security, SEO, training, and future changes as your business grows.
We can help with each part of the project so you do not have to piece it all together on your own.
If you want to make updates yourself, we can show you how. If you would rather have us handle updates, we can help with that too.
We can host, update, monitor, and protect the websites we build. That gives you fewer things to manage and one team to call when you need help.
We can easily add in features such as shopping carts, restaurant menus, photo galleries, staff directory, job applications, etc.
Our sites can easily be expanded to fit new business goals and needs. If we need to add in any additional features six months or a year (or more) after your site is launched, we can do so without a problem.
We will submit your site to leading search engines and help with search engine optimization (SEO) in order to get your site the best ranking possible.
We’ve worked with a wide variety of industries, from restaurants to HR services to retail stores to coffee shops to law offices and more.
Some web designers build the site and disappear. That is not how we like to work.
Our full-service web design and management services for small business clients can cover the full project. We can help with design, copywriting, WordPress setup, hosting, SEO, updates, security, photography, and support after launch.
That does not mean every client needs every service. It means you have one team that can help when you need something done.
Your website content should be clear. People should be able to tell what you do, who you help, and what they should do next.
We can write the content for your site or help improve what you already have. We also use keyword research to help plan the pages and wording so the site has a better chance to show up for the right searches.
Your website needs a good place to live after it launches. Hosting is not just about server space. It also affects security, updates, backups, speed, and support.
We offer hosting plans for WordPress websites that can include SSL, backups, WordPress updates, security monitoring, cPGuard protection, and support from our team.
If something needs attention, you do not have to call a giant hosting company and hope someone understands the problem. You can contact us.
Many of the websites we build use WordPress and Elementor. We like that setup because it gives small businesses a good mix of control, flexibility, and ease of use.
With WordPress, you can update pages, add blog posts, change photos, manage forms, and grow the site over time. We can also train you on how to make common updates, and we are here if you would rather have us do it for you.
WordPress web design for small businesses works best when the site is planned well from the start. We help with the layout, content, tools, plugins, and setup so the website is easier to manage later.
Your website should feel like it belongs with the rest of your business. The logo, colors, photos, fonts, and printed materials should all feel connected.
We can help with branding and web design for small business clients who need more than just a website. That might include a new logo, business cards, brochures, menus, signs, social graphics, or other design pieces.
Good design helps people recognize your business and trust what they are seeing.
Small business web design prices can vary quite a bit. The final cost depends on the size of the site, the design needs, how much content is needed, and what features are being added.
At Full Scope Creative, Premium Framework websites start at $4,000. Custom website design projects start at $8,000. Some projects are simple. Others need more pages, custom layouts, e-commerce, directories, advanced forms, or other tools.
We will talk through what you need before giving you a recommendation. The goal is not to sell you the biggest project possible. The goal is to recommend the right fit.
A website should be planned with SEO in mind from the beginning. That does not mean stuffing keywords into every sentence. It means building pages that are clear, helpful, and organized around what people are actually searching for.
Our web design and SEO for small businesses can include keyword research, page planning, title tags, meta descriptions, headings, internal links, image alt text, and content structure.
SEO is not a one-time magic switch. But a well-planned website gives you a much better starting point.
From choosing the right layout to planning content that connects, we know website design can come with a lot of questions. These are some of the most common topics our team helps small businesses understand when it comes to building a great site.
The biggest limitations of using a website builder include limited control over website speed, fewer SEO options, unexpected costs, and restrictions on customization. Some website builders also make it difficult to move your website to another hosting provider. While platforms like Wix, Squarespace, and GoDaddy Website Builder can work well for small businesses, they may limit what you can change or improve as your business grows. WordPress with Elementor offers more flexibility and control, especially when properly built and maintained.
Web design and SEO are closely connected, but they are not the same thing. Web design focuses on how a site looks, functions, and guides users, while SEO focuses on helping people find the site through search engines. They work best when planned together, but each serves a different role.
The “five golden rules of web design” boil down to making your site instantly clear about what you do, designing it in a way that guides users effortlessly, keeping your brand styling consistent, using strong calls-to-action, and ensuring your site loads quickly. Bonus: integrating foundational SEO practices ensures your great design actually gets seen.
Yes, WordPress is still one of the best options for building a small business website. It offers flexibility, full ownership of your content, strong SEO features, and easy customization. With the right hosting and ongoing maintenance, WordPress can serve your business well for years to come.
The most vulnerable parts of a WordPress website are usually the plugins, themes, and login pages. Outdated or abandoned plugins and themes can open security holes that hackers target. Weak passwords make login attacks easier. Poor hosting setups or unsafe file permissions also create risks. Regular updates, strong passwords, and secure hosting go a long way in keeping your site safe.
A WordPress designer is focused on the look, feel, layout and user experience of your site—how it presents your brand and draws people in. A WordPress developer, on the other hand, builds the functionality behind the scenes (custom themes/plugins, performance, security, integrations) so the site works smoothly. Both roles matter: you don’t want something that looks amazing but breaks, and you don’t want something that works perfectly but looks dated or confusing.
If your WordPress site is stuck in maintenance mode, it usually means the update process was interrupted and the .maintenance file was never removed. The quickest way to fix it is to access your site files, locate the .maintenance file in your root directory, delete it, and then refresh your website.
When it comes to a successful website design, one of the most important elements is ensuring the visitor’s needs are met — meaning your site is clear, usable, and aligned with what your audience is trying to accomplish. If users can’t quickly understand your value, find what they’re looking for, or take action, the rest of the design falls short. Strong visuals, smart navigation, and mobile responsiveness all play a role, but they support this core goal.
WordPress is the best platform for most small businesses because it offers full control, simple updates, strong SEO potential, and room to grow. You are not locked into templates or limited features like you are with Squarespace or Wix. WordPress supports your business long term and adapts as your needs change.
The three second rule in web design means visitors should instantly understand what your business does and why they should stay within just a few seconds of landing on your site. Clear messaging, strong visuals, and easy navigation help make that quick first impression. If users have to think too long, they’ll likely move on to another site.
Most small business websites should start with a homepage, About page, Services or Products page, and Contact page. From there, you may want to add individual service pages, a blog, case studies, FAQs, and other pages based on your goals. There is no exact number that works for every website.
