Why I value being an Optimist

Optimism isn’t about ignoring reality. It’s about choosing to look for the good, even when challenges show up. Through faith, community, and a long-standing commitment to the Optimist Club, I’ve learned that hope is a discipline. It shapes how I lead, how I serve clients, and how I approach each day at Full Scope Creative.

Why This Matters

Some people would say that I suffer from a debilitating disease called Being An Optimist. We all know the uglies of the world and life. I choose to look for the beauty in it all. My faith in Jesus gives me reassurance for a better tomorrow thanks to the promises of future grace and that gives me a lot of optimism.

That doesn’t mean I’m never negative or never have doubts or fears. Of course I do! It just means I do everything I can to stop and force myself to look for the good, the beauty, the hope.

Not only do I value being an optimistic person, I value being a member of my local Optimist club. I’ve been a member of the Allouez Optimist Club for 10 years or so now. Each week I get to gather for lunch with a rum full of other optimistic business leaders and professionals. Why would I not want to be in that room? At each meeting we end with the Optimist Creed. The last point of the creed is “To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.” That point sticks in my mind the most and is my favorite.

Bad times come in life. Negative things happen in my day at Full Scope Creative. Through it all, I will be an optimistic Optimist.

Full Scope Creative (specifically working with Chris Robinson) has been super responsive to our needs within Intentional Mentoring. Chris helped get us situated on a website that fit our budget and our experience in managing a website. When we were looking to redesign the website, he worked with us to make sure it fit the vibe we wanted for our organization, held the terminology and access points we were looking for, and allowed us to speak with him frequently about suggestions and updates. Whenever we had new people join us that needed to learn the website, Chris was able to work with them virtually to learn and understand the process of managing our side. Throughout our time working with Full Scope Creative, we have appreciated the consistency, timeliness, and product we have been given. Additionally, we appreciate the direct connection we get in response to questions and concerns.
